New: the Novation Play Content Store is here — with a free Sound Drop
Expand the sonic palette of your Novation Controller with a free collection of meticulously sampled acoustic drums.
If you’ve opened Novation Play lately, you might have spotted a prompt to download the v1.1.2 update. And if you did, you’ll already have gotten a glimpse at the future of our sample-based software instrument.
Today, we’re officially announcing the arrival of the Content Store. Play still includes a starter pack of 100+ powerful, customisable presets, but you now have the option to extend your collection from a continually updated selection of Sound Drops — genre-specific sound packs, each crafted by our team of expert sound designers.
Sound Drops come in two flavours: paid Sound Drop Expansions, and free Core Sound Drops.
At launch, the Store features three Sound Drop Expansions:
- Lo-Fi Drums: A versatile collection of 20 textured drum kits that are perfect for laid-back hip hop beats. Comes with more than 200 samples, included kicks, snares, and percussion.
- Acoustic Piano Soundscapes: An inspiring collection of expressive presets, carefully sampled from real pianos then transformed into abstract ambiances and evolving pads by our expert sound designers.
- Ultimate Trap Drums: Capture the authentic sound of Atlanta with an expansive collection of hard-hitting kicks, snares, claps, FX, and — of course — hi-hats.
- To celebrate the launch, we’re giving away a Core Sound Drop to all existing Launchkey MK4 and FLkey 2 users: Acoustic Drums complements the current selection of electronic percussion with a range of carefully recorded acoustic kicks, snares, hats, crashes, and rides.
If you haven’t yet picked up the free Core Pianos Sound Drop, you’ll also find that waiting for you in the store.
To get started, just open Play’s presets menu and click the Store button.
